Ricciardo has taken the bizarre Australian custom worldwide, and drinking champagne out of his sweaty driving shoe has become such a phenomenon inside of Formula 1 that the sport is trademarking the act.
This was an incredible, well-deserved shoey after Ricciardo struggled for over half the race with power issues — being unable to get his Red Bull car above sixth gear, but we couldn’t help but wish there was more. Someone on the radio said to “get a shoey ready for Prince Albert,” but the royal didn’t oblige.
