This time lapse graphic of every Ichiro hit is mind blowing

Wow.

James Dator
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

It’s easy to hear “3,089 career hits,” and think “yeah, that’s a lot” — but until you see this time lapse of Ichiro’s MLB career it doesn’t quite sink in.

It’s a graphic that hits you in stages.

  • 0-10 seconds: Wow, this is really neat.
  • 11-20 seconds: Glances at bottom of screen ... it’s only in in 2003.
  • 41-50 seconds: I’m still watching this thing spit out dots and we have 11 years to go.
  • 1 minute 15: This is utterly impossible.
  • 1 minute 20: HOW IS THIS NOT OVER YET?!
  • 1 minute 29: I need a cigarette after all that.

This is something else. What an incredible career.
