Everyone is talking about Wayne Rooney’s incredible last-second cross

OH MY!

D.C. United needing something special to win on Sunday night, and Wayne Rooney was ready to be special.

United were locked at 2-2 with Orlando City SC on Sunday night with less than a minute in stoppage time when Rooney turned back the clock and went off. Tackling the ball deep in United territory (with the net empty, mind you), he took a few strides before delivering an absolutely perfect cross into the box for Luciano Acosta to head home and give D.C. United the win.

It was a magical moment we’ve come to expect from Rooney — but maybe like, circa 2010 Wayne Rooney — certainly not MLS Rooney. Nonetheless footballers around the world were celebrating his moment.

Rooney, however, downplayed his cross.

What a moment.
