This video of a security guard falling during the Braves’ postgame show has so many layers

What a moment.

If you weren’t watching the Braves postgame show Tuesday night, then you missed one of the best things you’ll see all year — but it’s OK because there’s video.

I identify with this security guard. I too have been in life positions where I’ve needed to make a pants adjustment while running for fear of them ending up around my ankles. It’s the curse of the husky. That said, I’ve never collapsed on live TV and almost fallen into a guard railing before.

It’s not just the trip that makes this wonderful, it’s all the surrounding elements.

No. 1 —The pants pull up.

This is a dire situation the security guard handled like a champ. Once belt clears butt there’s no way but down for your pants, and there’s this weird thing that happens when you know your pants are about to fall down that in that immediate moment nothing is more impossible. My family could be in a burning building and if belt cleared butt I’m pulling them up.

It’s not that I don’t care about my family — it’s just an innate “fight or flight” response. I will fight to keep my butt from flighting.

No. 2 — The Fall

There’s an art to a good fall, and this dude stumbled across it totally by happenstance. It’s a slide/fall combo WITH a hat drop and the fact it’s partially masked makes it all the better. It leaves a little of the fall to the imagination, and that’s just perfect.

No. 3 — The nod.

This is my favorite part. After just biting it on live TV he pops back up like it’s nothing and gives a little nod. Is he telling the rest of the crew he’s OK? Acknowledging what happened? I like to imagine it’s a little nod to us, the people at home — letting us know what he’s aware of what happened, know this is about to be a thing and it’s his tacit approval for memehood.

Love this guy.

No. 4 — Brian Jordan showed so much discipline.

Jordan saw what happened on the monitor. I know this because he went from closed-mouth smile to tooth-smile in a matter of milliseconds after the fall. Jordan is a professional though, and managed to keep it together when I would have been giggling like a kid at the sight of it all.
