Celebratory Rangers Attempt To Drown Josh Hamilton In Ginger Ale

It’s customary for any team that’s clinched a postseason spot or a playoff series win to retire to the clubhouse so the players and coaches can spray champagne all over one another. They do this because champagne is expensive, and they’re all really rich, and it is their intention to make the viewing audience feel worthless and poor in their favorite team’s moment of triumph.

The Rangers, however, faced a complication: their star center fielder - Josh Hamilton - has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and last month had to sit out their first celebration after getting doused with a little water. So how did the Rangers respond after their 5-1 Game 5 elimination of the Rays?

By getting Josh Hamilton Canada wet!

After milling around on the field, the Rangers streamed into the locker room and poured ginger ale all over Hamilton for a good solid minute. The idea came from C.J. Wilson and equipment manager Richard Price, and it sounds really thoughtful and touching, although it's possible Wilson was just ripping on Hamilton's freckles and dark reddish hair.

Hamilton enjoyed the festivities, and was outwardly grateful for his teammates’ understanding nature. He left the locker room after a short while, at which point his teammates then retrieved the champagne and beer and took it upon themselves to get their manager drunk.
