Entering Saturday night’s NLCS opener, we expected to see some great pitching from Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum. Through one inning, neither ace disappointed.

Halladay set down the first three Giants in order, needing only eight pitches to do so. Lincecum promptly took the mound, and in the bottom of the first he needed only seven pitches to retire the first three Phillies. Time elapsed: 11 minutes.
Yes, eleven minutes for a full inning. These two aren’t wasting time, and they aren’t wasting pitches, either. We’re probably in for a real treat tonight.
