Giants Vs. Phillies, NLCS Game 1: Tim Lincecum Escapes Further Damage In Third

The third inning didn't begin the way Tim Lincecum wanted, as Carlos Ruiz led off with a solo home run to tie things up. But that wasn't all the Phillies would do, as they continued to press against the righty and apply a lot of pressure. A single by Roy Halladay was erased by a Shane Victorino double play, but with two outs, Placido Polanco doubled, and Chase Utley drew a walk.

That brought Ryan Howard to the plate, and he'd already doubled once, in the second. But Lincecum got him to whiff on a slider to end the frame and end the threat. It's still 1-1 headed for the fourth, with Lincecum at 45 pitches.
