Coming into the workweek, the Rangers' World Series rotation was mostly worked out. Cliff Lee's going to start Game 1. Game 2 would go to C.J. Wilson or Colby Lewis, and Game 3 would go to the other. And Game 4 would go to Tommy Hunter or - less likely - Derek Holland.
Colby Lewis Expects To Start World Series Game 3
So how about those middle two games? Through the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Rangers have had Wilson start in front of Lewis, and from the sounds of things, that’s how it’s going to go again in the World Series. Says Lewis:
Host/Bill Pidto: “Ron Washington hasn’t determined whether it is going to be you or C.J. Wilson in Game 2. At what point do you feel like you want to know when you are going to start?”
Colby Lewis: “Um, I think it was, I don’t know if it was announced yesterday or not but I’m almost positive I’m going to be going in Game 3, so, first game back here.
So it’ll almost certainly be Lee, followed by Wilson, followed by Lewis, followed by Hunter. There’s no telling why Ron Washington prefers this setup, but it’s possible he kept the starters in the same order because he prefers the right-handed Lewis to the left-handed Wilson in Texas’ smaller ballpark.
