In what most certainly counts as "unsurprising", Bruce Bochy has revealed his World Series Game 1 starter. That starter? None other than ace Tim Lincecum, who also opened both the NLDS against the Braves, and the NLCS against the Phillies.
Tim Lincecum To Start Game 1 As Giants Line Up World Series Rotation
Lincecum will technically be working on three days' rest after making a brief relief appearance in the eighth inning of Game 6 on Saturday night. However, he hasn't started a game since Thursday, October 21, and has always been said to have an arm requiring very little recovery between appearances. So Lincecum should be all set and good to go opposite Cliff Lee.
Behind Lincecum, Bochy has decided to start Matt Cain in Game 2 and Jonathan Sanchez in Game 3. Cain last started on October 19, and will be on eight days' rest. But then, he was on ten days' rest prior to throwing his seven shutout innings against the Phillies, so that shouldn't be a concern. Sanchez will be on six days' rest for Game 3, although it's worth noting he also only threw 51 pitches in his most recent start.
So it'll be two righties for the Giants to kick off, and a southpaw in the third game. There's not yet any word on who will start Game 4. Odds are it'll be Madison Bumgarner, but Bochy could opt to go with Lincecum on short rest if the Giants are in dire need.
