I can't even...I can't keep up with this. This was a 2-0 game. Coming into the bottom of the eighth inning, this was a 2-0 game. Brian Wilson was getting warm. The Giants were preparing for a save situation. The Rangers were thinking about a late rally.
World Series Game 2, Rangers Vs. Giants: Derek Holland, Bullpen Melt Down In Eighth
There will be no late rally. Not after what the Giants were able to do against the Rangers bullpen. And to think this inning started with strikeouts by Andres Torres and Freddy Sanchez against Darren O'Day. At one point, it was 2-0 Giants, with none on and two out.
Then this happened:
- Buster Posey infield single
- Nate Schierholtz walk
- Cody Ross walk
- Aubrey Huff walk; 3-0
- Juan Uribe walk; 4-0
- Edgar Renteria single; 6-0
- Aaron Rowand triple; 8-0
- Andres Torres double; 9-0
- Freddy Sanchez strikeout
Eight consecutive Giants reached base against O'Day, Derek Holland, Mark Lowe, and Michael Kirkman. Holland walked three hitters in a row, including Huff with the bases loaded. Lowe then walked Uribe with the bases loaded to spoil the save situation, and the Giants only continued to add on from there.
Now we go to the ninth, and Guillermo Mota will take over, just trying to keep the Rangers from scoring nine runs before they make three outs. He's probably going to do it. The Giants are probably going to take a 2-0 series lead.
