Twins Vs. Yankees, ALDS Game 2: Carl Pavano, Andy Pettitte Match Scoreless First Innings

Carl Pavano looks to be on top of his game in the early going. He made quick work of the top of the Yankees' batting order in the first, setting down Derek Jeter, Curtis Granderson, and Mark Teixeira on just 11 pitches. Teixeira struck out looking on a biting fastball up and in.

Not to be outdone, Andy Pettitte put up a zero of his own in the bottom half, although it took some work after Denard Span led off with a gritty ten-pitch at bat that resulted in a single. Orlando Hudson followed with a grounder back to the mound that Pettitte fielded and threw to second base, where Jeter covered and made an excellent turn to first for the 1-6-3 double play.

Joe Mauer then struck out to end the frame, and we're off to the second inning.
