Jamie Moyer Plans To Keep Pitching, Because Of Course He Does

One difference between Jamie Moyer and Brett Favre: it's always everyone else who says Moyer will retire, not Moyer himself. The 24-year-veteran, who turns 48 in a few days, is a free agent who pitched 111.2 innings for the Phillies last season. After injuring his elbow while playing winter-league ball last week, most (myself included) assumed his career was over. Once again, Moyer says otherwise:

"My plans are to get healthy and continue pitching," he said flatly.

What if the injury is worst-case scenario, so much ligament damage he needs Tommy John surgery and a year or rehabilitation?

↵

"That wouldn't change my plans," Moyer said.

↵Moyer’s longevity always inspires age-centric trivia, so here you go: there are a combined 92 teams in Major League Baseball, the NFL, and the NBA, and they use a total of 90 stadiums/arenas. Only six of them are older than Jamie Moyer. (Update: originally said four, forgot Dodger Stadium and Soldier Field.)
