    Report: Edwin Rodriguez Will Remain Marlins Manager

    As the end of the 2010 season approached, the Marlins went about putting together a pool of candidates to assume the permanent managerial position. Rodriguez was just an interim, and the team had thoughts about landing someone more experienced. A couple times they were very strongly linked to Bobby Valentine, with some reports suggesting the two were on the verge of an agreement. But Valentine and the Marlins came to no such agreement, and over the last few weeks it became apparent that the finalists would be Bo Porter and Rodriguez himself.

    So, in the end, it appears that Rodriguez will hang on to his job. And it’s hard to say he doesn’t deserve it. After taking over a 34-36 ballclub, the 50 year old Rodriguez guided the Marlins to a 46-46 record the rest of the way. He had good success, he related well with the players and the community, and there’s value in hanging on to what’s already in place.
