Michael Young Trade Misinformation Gives Three-Year-Old His First Taste Of True Anguish

The Rangers are unlikely to trade Michael Young, but this three-year-old doesn’t know that, because his mother is delivering the news that he’s leaving Texas. To be fair, this video was uploaded on Thursday, when it still looked like Young was out the door. So what we have here is not a terrible mother, but a kid who’s hearing the first bit of bad news in his life.

↵And it might well be! I’m not talking about “it’s bedtime” or “you’re in time-out.” Real, actual, sorrow, the sort that comes with a trade of your favorite player. If parents around America begin to film their kids while they deliver preemptive trade news, I think trades and free agency scales back by a factor of at least five.
