Twins’ Pavano Gets Nod Over Liriano For Opening Day

A tweet from Jon Heyman:

This is news only because Pavano so obviously was not the Twins' best starting pitcher last season. Yes, he was good: 17-11 with a 3.75 ERA and three times more strikeouts than walks. But Francisco Liriano was better: lower ERA, higher strikeout-to-walk ratio, lower home-run rate. It was Liriano who got the nod in the Twins' first postseason game last October.

↵I am not saying the Twins are wrong about this. Their record over the years says they’re right about a lot of things. I’m just saying this is interesting.
