↵↵The catchphrase, “Willie, Mickey and ‘The Duke,’ ” has long been a motto for a far-off era of baseball. Still, the man who gives the line its final oomph had to clarify something about it.
↵“One time, Duke (Snider) said to me that I had to thank his uncle,” said Terry Cashman, who made the phrase famous in a baseball ballad. “He said, ‘My uncle was the guy that gave me the nickname. Otherwise, you would have had to call the song, Willie, Mickey and The Edwin.
