A.J. Pierzynski’s Speeding Ticket Shows Athletes Are Just Like Us, Ozzie Guillen Is Awesome

Instead of riding the team bus to a spring training game, Pierzynski, just like that jerk with rich parents in high school, opted to drive himself. We can only assume he didn’t want to be seen with the lame-o’s who ride the bus, which would be social suicide. And because the cops, like, totally don’t care if you’re just doing 10 over, right, Pierzynski decided that it was no big deal to speed to the game. Unfortunately, he was pulled over, and to quote the man himself, “I knew I was in trouble.”

The officer had no intention of letting Pierzynski go with a mere warning, and the catcher was given a citation. If there’s anything we can take from this incident, it’s that professional athletes really are just like us average Joes. They drive 10 miles per hour over the speed limit, get pulled over, and get speeding tickets. Even while wearing their uniforms. With all of the stories out there about how athletes are above the law, it’s nice to see an officer stick to his principles.
