White Sox Tab Rookie Brent Morel For Third Base

Nice to see a rookie get a shot. Daryl van Schouwen (via the Sun-Times):

Ozzie Guillen finally made it official on Thursday, saying rookie Brent Morel will be the White Sox starting third baseman when the team breaks camp next week.

Mark Teahen, as expected, will be used in a utility role.

↵Teahen’s been the same player for the last three seasons, and at 29 he’s not likely to become a different player. I’m not sure Morel is a better hitter than Teahen (yet), but he’s getting there and he’s certainly the better third baseman. Teahen’s owed around $10 million these next two seasons, too much for a utility guy, but he won’t exactly bust the budget.
