Nice to see a rookie get a shot. Daryl van Schouwen (via the Sun-Times):
White Sox Tab Rookie Brent Morel For Third Base
↵
↵Ozzie Guillen finally made it official on Thursday, saying rookie Brent Morel will be the White Sox starting third baseman when the team breaks camp next week.
↵Mark Teahen, as expected, will be used in a utility role.
↵
↵Teahen’s been the same player for the last three seasons, and at 29 he’s not likely to become a different player. I’m not sure Morel is a better hitter than Teahen (yet), but he’s getting there and he’s certainly the better third baseman. Teahen’s owed around $10 million these next two seasons, too much for a utility guy, but he won’t exactly bust the budget.
