It's no surprise that rookie Ivan Nova will be the Yankees' No. 4 starter. For some time now, the only real question was who would win the No. 5 slot, and Saturday Joe Girardi announced the job is Freddy Garcia's, with Bartolo Colon taking up residence as utility pitcher in the bullpen.

↵This is a little surprising if only because Colon pitched so brilliantly in his four spring starts: 2.40 ERA, with 17 strikeouts and just one walk in 15 innings. But if he does pitch well in relief, Colon will probably get his chance to start eventually. And it’s probably worth noting that none of the prospect mavens were particularly impressed with Nova before now.
