Over at FanGraphs, Eric Seidman makes a great point:
Slugger Brandon Allen Odd Man Out With Diamondbacks
↵
↵Brandon Allen has done everything a prospect can do to prove he deserves a legitimate major league opportunity, but the Diamondbacks seem unwilling to give their young slugger an extended look. With the emergence of Juan Miranda as a potential starter and the news that Russell Branyan will make the opening day roster, Allen appears to be the odd man out at first base.
↵
↵It’s actually sort of bizarre. With the lefty-swinging Allen already in the organization and coming off a fine Triple-A season, the Diamondbacks signed lefty Juan Miranda and lefty Russell Branyan? If you were Brandon Allen, what would you think? It’s clear that the D’backs have little use for three left-handed-hitting first basemen, and almost as clear that some enterprising general manager should see if Allen can be had for a pouch filled with magical beans.
