We already told you earlier that Rays teammates Reid Brignac, David Price, and Evan Longoria were robbed over the weekend while off playing a Spring Training game. However, there's a new twist to the story that I suppose some might consider to be borderline interesting. The initial report noted that a weapon was among the items stolen. That weapon?
Evan Longoria’s AK-47 Assault Rifle Among Items Stolen
Longoria’s stolen weapon was an AK-47 rifle, and was “perfectly legal” according to the sheriff’s office.
Longoria has declined to say any more on the gun, calling it a personal item and leaving it at that. The fact that it’s legal, and that Longoria doesn’t have anything in the way of a criminal history, means that this is probably going to get more attention than it’s worth. But one does still have to wonder. It’s one thing to own a cool weapon just for the sake of owning a cool weapon. In my head at least 75% of millionaires around the globe own a sword or a set of nunchucks. But the gun wasn’t at Longoria’s permanent house. It was at his Spring Training house, meaning that, unless he bought the gun there, he brought it from home.
So many questions, and so many answers we’re never going to get, meaning the truth is left to everyone’s imagination. Sometimes you can spot a future meme at first sight. This is one of those times.
