On Opening Day last week, two men dressed in Dodgers clothing beat up San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow in the Dodgers Stadium parking lot. It was just the latest in a long line of violent attacks involving Dodger and Giants fans, including a 2003 shooting that left one fan dead.
Dodgers Bring On Ex-Police Chief To Review Stadium Security
Under fire for this latest incident, and given that not playing the Giants anymore is not an option, the Dodgers have hired former Los Angeles police chief William Bratton to review the team's stadium security. Bratton will work with the organization to "develop a security blueprint for the stadium and parking lots."
Good move by the Dodgers as Bratton brings a great reputation with him and good knowledge of the city and its procedures. Unfortunately it's too late for Giants fan Stow, a 42-year-old Giants fan and father of two. Doctors believe he has suffered brain damage and he remains in a medically-induced coma.
