Mocksession watches a lot of TV, especially when it’s sports-related. And when you watch sports on TV, you’re going to be inundated with ads.
FOX, ABC Practice Dubious “Viral” Advertising Campaigns
↵Usually, it’s easy to separate the ads from the content. But in the age of DVRs and Internet TV, networks and advertisers sometimes feel the need to get a little tricky with the way they get their messages across.
↵This past weekend, Mocksession noticed a couple instances where the line between viral advertisement and unethical/deceptive practices got blurred. One took place during Saturday night’s Reds-Braves game while the other took place following the Indianapolis 500. Any fans of the show Fringe who were watching big MLB games in the past couple seasons can certainly remember a few instances that blurred the line as well.
↵Even if you don’t agree that either instance is a big deal, it’s worth knowing what TV networks are allowed to do, what they’re not and how they should be treating you as a viewer.
