Detroit hasn't played a road OVER so far in 2012, so you'd think a game involving the Tigers might have a low total.

Especially when Justin Verlander is on the hill.
You’d think wrong, despite the six straight road UNDERs to start the year. The Tigers visit Yankee Stadium Friday to kick off an important three-game set and the total opened at 8.5.
"For comparison's sake, 10 games have totals less than 8.5 Friday," said Mike Pickett of OddsShark.com, the baseball odds provider to SBNation.com. "Of course, it's Yankee Stadium and that right-field porch is inviting for Prince Fielder and inviting for OVER bettors."
Ivan Nova goes for the Yanks and he's 3-0 on the year. He's also a moneyline underdog, which doesn't happen to the Yankees at home very often.
Verlander isn't the only Cy Young winner throwing Friday. Clayton Kershaw goes for the Dodgers (-200 at home to the Nationals) while Roy Halladay hosts the Cubs as the day's biggest favorite (-260).
