Baseball Betting Menu Sees Mostly Road Underdogs Thursday

Giving odds of 2/1 and more on individual baseball games can be risky business, and hurtful to a bankroll when underdogs bite.

But there was no pain and damage done Wednesday as the two biggest favorites on the baseball betting board came through with victories.

The St. Louis Cardinals, -220 favorites over San Diego, spotted the Padres three runs in the top of the first Wednesday, then tied the game in the bottom of the inning and went on to a 6-3 win.

Lance Lynn, who gave up those three early San Diego runs, allowed nothing after that and got the win to improve to 7-1 on the season. The Cards also covered on the run line at odds of about +100.

Over on the American League side of the board, the struggling New York Yankees, -210 favorites over visiting Kansas City nonetheless, got a quality start from 39-year-old Andy Pettitte and two homers from Alex Rodriguez on their way to an 8-3 win. The Yanks also covered on the run line also at a price of around +100.

For the day baseball betting favorites went 10-5 Wednesday, making a profit of $380 (based on theoretical $100 bets).

On the other side of the ledger, home dogs went 3-2 and made about $125. Here's a quick look at Thursday's complete board, with MLB odds courtesy of SB Nation.
