It was a very “chalky” weekend in Major League Baseball, as the betting-line favorites won 23 of 30 games played Saturday and Sunday.
Memorial Day Baseball Odds: Can Chalk Continue Winning Ways?
Favorites dominated on the weekend and early wagering action favors them on Memorial Day as well. Check out the early MLB odds action.

Mat Latos and the Reds, and Yu Darvish and the Rangers led the chalk brigade Sunday, both winning as favorites of -185. R.A. Dickey knuckled the Mets to a 2-0 victory over San Diego as -150 chalk, and CJ Wilson and the resurgent Angels got by Seattle 4-2 as -140 faves.
MLB chalk went 12-3 Sunday and won $835, based on theoretical $100 wagers.
On the other side of the ledger, home underdogs went 0-4 Sunday and are now 1-12 since Friday.
The Atlanta Braves continued their recent slide, losing their seventh consecutive game Sunday night, 7-2, to Gio Gonzalez and the Nationals as -120 favorites. Atlanta hitters garnered just three hits Sunday and struck out 13 times. So the Braves have now scored a total of 22 runs over their last nine games.
Texas, meanwhile, scored 34 runs in sweeping three games from Toronto over the weekend.
Baseball “over/unders” went 6-9 Sunday. So the last two Sundays the totals have leaned toward the ‘unders’ by a 17-12 margin.
For Memorial Day Monday: Carlos Zambrano and the Marlins are listed as -120 home favorites over Jordan Zimmerman and the Nationals; Tommy Hanson and the Braves are -115 home faves over Lance Lynn and the Cardinals; Felix Doubront and the Red Sox are -135 home chalk over Doug Fister and the Tigers; and Jered Weaver and the Angels are -135 home favorites over Phil Hughes and the Yankees.
