If we told you that Bill Murray was the co-owner of a minor league baseball team called the Charleston RiverDogs, you’d probably believe us. Of course, you’d probably believe us if we told you Bill Murray once punched an excessively rude shark or that he spends most of his free time finding and rescuing treed kittens. This is because Bill Murray is awesome. But the thing about the RiverDogs is 100 percent true, and Murray was inducted Tuesday into the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame. Murray has owned a stake in the RiverDogs since 1989. Joining him in this year’s class is Charleston mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr., for whom the RiverDogs’ ball park is named, and Asheville Tourists executive Carolyn McKee. The ceremony took place prior to the South Atlantic All-Star Game, which is being played in Charleston.
