On Sunday, the Chicago Cubs decided to have a "super hero" dress-up day. Players and coaches alike got in on the act and despite some players having an extremely loose interpretation of "super hero," the results were ... well ... see for yourself.

All of these photos come to us courtesy of the Twitter feeds of Carrie Muskat of MLB.com, Doug Padilla of ESPN Chicago and Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago.

David DeJesus dressed up as He-Man, who classifies as a super hero.

Thor and Wolverine: both definitely super heroes.

Captain America, Hawkeye, Batman and Robin? Perfect. Still on the right track, guys.

8ncct_medium

The Flash? Perfect.

Carlos Marmol as Zorro? I will allow it, but only because Batman was inspired by Zorro. You're on thin ice, guys.

Jeff Baker and Reed Johnson apparently dressed up as Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer. That's shameless pandering guys, but I guess you get points for being cutesy, thinking outside the box and sucking up at the same time.

Jeff Samardzija dressed up as Jesus. Again, technically correct, but you're pushing it now.

Geovany Soto dressed up as "a Ghostbuster." Barely. A Ghostbuster is barely a hero, let alone a super hero. They bust because it's their profession and/or bustin' makes them feel good, guys. Let's not lionize them.

Okay now: Bryan LaHair, Scott Maine, Steve Clevenger ... no. Just ... no. Just because something has "Super" in its name doesn't make it a super hero. You wouldn't dress up as a Super Big Gulp or a Super Soaker or a supermarket on super hero day, would you? Sheesh.

DARWIN BARNEY WHAT DID I JUST SAY

Luckily, the Cubs’ skipper knows what’s what. Well done, Dale Sveum as Hellboy. You win the contest.
