Jose Canseco Thinks He Can Win Home Run Derby, Obviously

It’s been so long since Jose Canseco played professional baseball that there is an entire generation who only knows him as a guy who is crazy on Twitter. I’m not saying that’s a shame or anything. Far from it. At this point, Canseco has given the world far more enjoyment via tweets asking celebrities whether they “MMA” than any amount of Bash-Brothering he conducted in the 1990s. In his latest missive, the erstwhile member of the Quintana Roo Tigres had a typically hyperbolic boast regarding Monday night’s Home Run Derby.

All he needs is a chance, people! A chance, a huge thing of steroids, a corked bat and a time machine to take him back to when he could win a Home Run Derby.

Maybe this is all just a big misunderstanding, though. Keep in mind that “MLB homerun derby” is what Canseco calls “drinking T.G.I. Friday’s Mudslide Mix straight out of the bottle.” He guzzles it down, throws it on the floor and yells, “I WON,” to an empty house. While that may sound sad to you, keep in mind that Canseco’s version doesn’t involve Chris Berman.

Check out SB Nation’s preview of the 2012 Home Run Derby below.
