The Yankees and Red Sox highlight a weekend of pennant-race baseball, with several series matchup playoff contenders.

And NFL preseason plows through its second week with the Patriots vs Eagles garnering much of the attention in Las Vegas.
The Yankees lead the Sox by a mile and face Philip Hughes. The Sox counter with Franklin Morales, who was rocked in an earlier start against New York. The Yanks are 25-16 vs lefty starters so far in 2012.
In Atlanta the Braves, who are now five games clear of the competition in the NL Wild-Card standings, host the NL West-leading Dodgers for three games at Turner Field.
As of Friday morning, most shops were listing the Braves at -155 to win this series, with LA getting +125.
In St. Louis the Cardinals, who are just a game off the pace in the race for the second National League Wild-Card spot, host the owners of that second spot, the Pirates, for three games at Busch Stadium. The Cards were -200 to win this series, with Pittsburgh getting +160.
In Detroit the Tigers host the Orioles for three games at Comerica Park. Baltimore owns one of the AL Wild-Car slots at the moment, with the Kitties just one game behind.
Detroit is a -230 favorite to win this series, with Justin Verlander throwing the opener Friday night, while the O's are getting +190.
And out in Anaheim the Angels and Rays continue a four-game series at Angels Stadium. Los Angeles, with Jered Weaver throwing, is listed as a -165 favorite for Friday night's game vs. Tampa and James Shields.
