The LA Dodgers have pushed all their chips into the pot on this season, but if they can’t beat the Colorado Rockies they might just as well fold and go home.
NL West Poker Game: Dodgers Losing Chip Lead to Giants

Wednesday, the Dodgers will try to avoid a series sweep at the hands of the last-place Rockies in Denver. LA has lost the first two games of this series by scores of 10-0 and 8-4.
"It won't mean they bust out of the game, because they are still close in the NL West and NL Wild Card standings, but their hopes of regaining the role as chip leader are dwindling," said Jack Randall of Odds Shark. "With apologies to experts on real poker sites, they can't bluff their way to a title, regardless of how many All-Stars they bring in."
So the Dodgers, the team that went all-in on trades this summer bringing in big-name, high-priced talent, have dropped to 3.5 games behind the first-place Giants in the NL West, and they're 2.5 games out in the battle for the second National League Wild-Card spot.
On top of that, slugger Matt Kemp ran into a wall Tuesday night and had to leave the game, and his status for the near future is uncertain.
Colorado, meanwhile, in playing out the string on this season, has won 12 of its last 16 games. As for Wednesday's series finale, LA, with Joe Blanton throwing, is a -135 favorite over the Rockies with Drew Pomeranz.
Also Wednesday the Reds with Mat Latos are -130 favorites as they go for a sweep in Arizona; the Cardinals with Joe Kelly are -120 favorites as they play a rubber match of series vs. the Pirates in Pittsburgh; the Orioles with newly acquired Joe Saunders look to take a 3-0 lead in their four-game series vs. the White Sox at Camden Yards; and the Rangers with Matt Harrison are -160 favorites as they play a rubber match with the Rays in Arlington.
On Thursday the National League offers up the opener of a very interesting four-game series in DC as the defending World Series champion Cardinals take on the NL East-leading but suddenly slumping Nationals.
