Joe Maddon ‘Apologizes’ In Most Joe Maddon Way Possible

The Tampa Bay Rays and their fans know that their manager Joe Maddon is not bashful about being a supreme butthole when he needs to be whenever he feels like it. He may have outdone himself in the smarm department on Wednesday, however. After his latest Joe Maddon-ing of a situation, the team may have to change their name to the Tampa Bay Smarms. Or maybe the Devil Smarms.

Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine appeared on WEEI on Wednesday afternoon and gave an interview that is already infamous. At one point in the interview, Valentine talked about how he was called out for showing up late to pre-game interviews and dropped Maddon's name as a manager who routinely arrives late.

So in typical Maddon fashion, the Rays manager fired back on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.

Man that is just CLASSIC Maddon. The only Maddons with more in-your-face ‘tude are those lovable twins from Good Charlotte, Benji and Joel.

Anyway, in the interest of furthering quality snark, I thought I would help out Maddon by thinking of some excuses he can use the next time he’s late. Feel free to use any and all of these, Joe!

- I was waiting for my Pomeranians to finish drying

- The people at Lenscrafters were trying to get all the face cheese off my glasses

- I was trying to find a louder plaid

- I was getting DJ Kitty down from a tree

- Sorry, I keep forgetting the Tampa Bay Rays exist
