Several teams in play for Cuban infielder Alex Guerrero

Guerrero has been close to a deal with the Dodgers on multiple occasions, but still has not officially signed.

Cuban defector Alex Guerrero has at least seven teams interested in acquiring him, including the Red Sox, Giants, Rangers, Reds and Dodgers, reports CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman.

It had been reported in early September that Guerrero had agreed to a five year deal worth $32 million with the Dodgers, but the deal fell through when news came out that his representative(s) had not been approved by the MLB players union. After that incident, he changed agents and hired Scott Boras.

That was the second time that Guerrero had allegedly been close to a deal with Los Angeles. There had also been reports that the two sides had reached a deal in July.

The 26-year-old defected from Cuba in January and officially became a free agent earlier in 2013. It has been rumored that he now wants a better overall contract than what he had previously been offered by the Dodgers.

Guerrero, who would likely play either second base or shortstop in the MLB, is well-regarded for his bat. He hit .310/.400/.599 during the 2011-12 Cuban season and has socked 60 home runs in 866 at-bats in his last three seasons. However, he sat out the 2012-13 season citing lack of motivation to play.
