The Athletics are 2 Legit 2 Quit

Heading into Game 5 of the ALDs, the A’s are pulling out all the stops.

Rob Carr

No, really, the headline above is not misleading in any way -- this is currently a thing that is happening for real.

Look at that Twitter handle! The Athletics are doing this because they're down to what is possibly their final game of the 2013 season: Game 5 of the American League Division Series against the Tigers. Again. With Justin Verlander on the mound, again. Will the A's prevail? That depends on how legit the Tigers and Verlander are -- if they're also 2 Legit 2 Quit, then we might have a very long game in front of us on Thursday.

Not-so-secretly, this is also a throwback to the olden days of Athletics baseball, when a certain MC Hammer was the team’s bat boy from 1973 through 1980. He, 2, was 2 Legit 2 Quit.

If the Athletics come out for Thursday’s game in Hammer pants then the Tigers should just pack up and go home.
