Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon is interested in re-signing with the Oakland Athletics if given the opportunity, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 40-year-old believes that he can pitch for another three season.

Colon turned in his best season in 2013 since he was a member of the Los Angeles Angels in 2005. The right-hander went 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA, throwing 190 1/3 innings over 30 starts. Colon's ability to command the strike zone continues to play a key role in his resurgence, only issuing 29 walks all season.
The 40-year-old has turned in three straight quality campaigns after struggling to pitch with consistency from 2006-2009, and was completely out of baseball in 2010. Colon did receive a 50-game suspension for a failing a testosterone test in 2012.
The pitcher told Slusser that he believes that he can pitch for three more seasons, which would indicate that he may try to ink a multi-year deal. Colon signed a one-year, $3 million contract with Oakland last winter.
