For the fourth time in history, the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals will square off in a postseason series. The two teams last met in 2009, when the Dodgers swept the Cards in a three-game NLDS; the second game of that series featured a matchup of current aces Clayton Kershaw and Adam Wainwright. Prior to that, the Cardinals beat the Dodgers 3-1 in the 2004 NLDS and 4-2 in the 1985 NLCS.
NLCS 2013: Game 1 starting lineups
Andre Ethier draws his first start of the postseason for the Dodgers, and Pete Kozma earns another start for the Cardinals after a strong NLDS.

The two teams will open the 2013 NLCS on Friday at 8:37 p.m. ET at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. After running out the same lineup for all four games of their NLDS against Atlanta, the Dodgers have made a notable tweak to their batting order for Game 1: Andre Ethier will replace Skip Schumaker in center field. Ethier, who made only three plate appearances in the NLDS due to a left ankle injury, will bat seventh in the lineup.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are sticking with the lineup that got them through the NLDS against Pittsburgh. Pete Kozma draws the start at shortstop in Game 1 over Daniel Descalso; Kozma was 4-for-10 with a double and a walk in the NLDS.

Right-hander Zack Greinke (15-4, 2.63) will start the game for the Dodgers, and St. Louis will counter with its own right-hander, Joe Kelly (10-5, 2.69). Greinke out-dueled Wainwright to win his only start against St. Louis this year, and Kelly beat Kershaw in his only start against the Dodgers.
