The Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals are locked in a 2-2 tie heading into the fifth inning of Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Friday.
NLCS Game 1, Dodgers vs. Cardinals game score: Los Angeles, St. Louis in a 2-2 tie after 4 innings
A couple of savvy postseason veterans have put some runs on the board in Game 1 in St. Louis.
Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe got the scoring started with a two-run single off of Cardinals starter Joe Kelly in the top of the third inning. Uribe has driven in the last four runs for the Dodgers dating back to their win over the Atlanta Braves in Game 4 of the NLDS, a series in which the veteran infielder hit .375 with a pair of home runs.
Carlos Beltran, who is also no stranger to big hits in the postseason, lofted a double over the head of Dodgers centerfielder Andre Ethier to tie up the game in the bottom half of the inning. That came after Kelly broke the Cards' 0-for-8 start against Dodgers starter Zack Greinke with a two-out single, followed by a walk drawn by Matt Carpenter.
Kelly has allowed four hits and a pair of walks while striking out four. Greinke has notched five punch-outs and given up three hits and a walk.
