The Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals remain in a 2-2 tie after 10 innings of play in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Friday.
Dodgers vs. Cardinals, NLCS Game 1 score update: Los Angeles, St. Louis still tied 2-2 after 10 innings
Carlos Beltran’s bat tied the game for the Cardinals in the third. His arm kept it that way in the 10th.
Both teams put together legitimate scoring threats that didn't come to fruition. Dodgers setup man Brian Wilson issued two-out walks to Matt Adams and Yadier Molina in the bottom of the ninth inning before getting Jon Jay to fly out to end the rally.
With one out in the 10th, Mark Ellis smoked a line drive to center field that was misplayed by Jay, allowing Ellis to leg out a triple. After Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal -- who was in the midst of his second inning of work --intentionally walked Hanley Ramirez, Carlos Beltran caught a shallow pop fly off the bat of Michael Young and nabbed Ellis at the plate for the third out.
