The St. Louis Cardinals announced Saturday that Lance Lynn will start Game 4 for the team, reports Jim Bowden of ESPN.
NLCS 2013: Lance Lynn to start Game 4 for Cardinals
Lynn will start despite pitching in relief on Friday.
There had been speculation that Shelby Miller could instead take the mound for the Cardinals after Lynn threw in relief during Game 1 on Friday. Lynn will have just three days of rest before starting on Tuesday. He pitched two shutout innings Friday, allowing a hit and a walk.
Lynn started one Divisional Series game against the Pirates and did not fare so well. He pitched just over four innings in Game 2, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks.
Despite that less-than-stellar start, Lynn had been a solid pitcher in the St. Louis rotation all season long and has more experience than Miller, who is a rookie. Lynn made 33 regular season starts for the Cardinals, posting a 3.97 ERA and 1.31 WHIP.
The Cardinals will start Michael Wacha in Game 2 with Adam Wainwright pitching Game 3.
