NLCS 2013: Dodgers’ Andre Ethier expects to start in Game 3

Ethier was not in the lineup for Game 2 after experiencing soreness following 13 innings of play in the first game of the NLCS.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier believes that he will be able to start Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Ethier was limited to pinch-hitting duties in the Division Series, but returned to the starting lineup in Game 1 of the NLCS, taking over in center field. However, after experiencing soreness in the 13 inning contest, he was once again on the bench during Game 2 while Skip Schumaker played in the outfield.

A sprained ankle had kept Ethier out of the lineup since Sept. 13. Along with Matt Kemp’s season-ending surgery, the Dodgers had begun to dig deeper into their outfield depth.

Ethier was able to pinch hit for Schumaker at the end of Game 2, striking out on three pitches to end the game.

Over 142 regular season games, Ethier hit .272/.360/.423 with 12 home runs. He has collected just one hit in nine postseason at-bats.
