Korean starting pitcher Suk-Min Yoon will travel to Los Angeles to begin the process of trying out for major league teams, the Korean paper Chosun Ilbo reports.

Yoon will meet with his agent, Scott Boras, and organize trials for several teams. The pitcher will be a free agent at the end of the season, so a team will not have to pay a posting fee to sign him.

Rumors about playing in the major leagues have surrounded Yoon over the past two years, when he first hired Boras as an agent. Fellow Korean and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu also hired Boras before the 2012 season, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, but Ryu entered the posting system before 2013.
The 27-year-old offers a low-90's fastball, along with a hard slider and changeup. Yoon starred in the 2009 World Baseball Classic and was named the MVP of the Korean Baseball Organization in 2011. He is coming off a disappointing campaign for the Kia Tigers, posting a 4.00 ERA with 76 strikeouts and 28 walks over 87 2/3 innings.
