NLCS 2013: Ricky Nolasco will start Game 4 for Dodgers

Nolasco has already been bumped from one Game 4 start this postseason, but is in line to start Tuesday’s NLCS game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers still plan to have Ricky Nolasco make the start in Game 4 of the NLCS on Tuesday now they know it will not be an elimination game, reports MLB.com.

The Dodgers beat the Cardinals 3-0 Monday night to assure the team will not be swept in the series. Had the Dodgers lost Game 3, they were prepared to send Game 1 starter Zack Greinke to the mound on short rest had they been on the verge of being knocked out of the playoffs.

Though the Dodgers could still change their minds, Manager Don Mattingly said after Monday’s game that “as of right now” Nolasco was their starter.

This would be the first playoff start of Nolasco's eight-year career. He has been scheduled to pitch Game 4 of the NLDS against the Braves, but the Dodgers instead had Clayton Kershaw go on short rest. The team would go on to win that game to advance to the NLCS.

Nolasco, 30, was a mid-season trade acquisition from the Marlins. He made 33 starts and one relief appearance in the regular season, posting a 3.70 ERA and 1.21 WHIP overall.
