The Dodgers threatened in the second inning, but Game 3 of the NLCS remains scoreless as the Los Angeles tries to tie up the series Tuesday night.

Lance Lynn looked good in the first inning, striking out two Dodgers' hitters. He ran into trouble in the second, however. He forced a fly ball for the first out of the inning before Andre Ethier fisted a pitch into center field for the game's first hit. Yasiel Puig followed that up with a walk, then was nearly doubled off as Juan Uribe lined to second. An A.J. Ellis walk loaded the bases with two outs, but Lynn got his third strikeout of the game as Ricky Nolasco was called out on a fastball.
For the Dodgers, Ricky Nolasco has looked dominant. Nolasco is making his very first appearance in the postseason having been passed over in favor of Clayton Kershaw for the clinching Game 4 in the NLDS against the Braves. In fact, Nolasco has not pitched since Sept. 29, when he made a brief relief appearance.
In the first inning, Nolasco needed just six pitches to sit the Cardinals down, forcing an easy ground out and two popups. The St. Louis bats slowed down and forced Nolasco to throw more pitches in the second, but he looked equally up to the task. Nolasco got a grounder before walking Yadier Molina for the first baserunner of the game. He struck out the next two batters, however, including David Freese, who worked a nice seven-pitch at-bat despite a calf injury. Nolasco has thrown 28 pitches overall.
Something to watch: Dodgers' shortstop Hanley Ramirez grabbed his side after striking out to end the first inning. He is playing through a fractured rib and has admitted to being in pain. He was talking to trainers in the dugout, but remained in on defense in the second inning.
