The Minnesota Twins would not be afraid to give up their second round pick in 2014 if it means signing a free agent they like, reports Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN.
Twins could give up pick to sign free agent
If there is a free agent fitting the Twins mold that requires giving up a draft pick, the team appears willing to do so.

Because the Twins finished with a 66-96 record, they will have the fifth pick of the first round in the 2014 MLB draft. The top third of first round picks are protected and can not be lost if a team were to sign a free agent who declined a qualifying offer. Instead, those teams, including the Twins, would give up their second round pick.
Only free agents who are made a qualifying offer by their 2013 team and turn it down will require a loss of a draft pick by the signing team.
Though the Twins would be willing to give up their second rounder, they would likely only do so if a free agent were to fall into their plans for the future. The team is not expected to be drastically improved in 2014, so a stopgap player would not be worth them giving up a pick.
Minnesota does have a great many holes to fill. The team scored the third fewest runs in the American League while posting the second worst ERA in 2013.
