Cardinals vs. Dodgers NLCS Game 5 score: L.A. leads 2-0 after 2

The Dodgers are out to an early two-run lead through two in Game 5. St. Louis had a great chance to take an early lead in the first, but couldn’t break through against Zack Greinke, who helped his own cause with an RBI single.

The Dodgers have jumped out to 2-0 lead after two thanks to RBI singles from Juan Uribe and Zack Greinke. Things looked to be going the Cardinals way at the outset, but they couldn't come through and now face a two-run deficit.

The BABIP gods did not favor Dodgers starter Greinke in the first, allowing two bloop singles to fall into left-center around a four-pitch walk to set up a bases-loaded, no-outs situation. Greinke then fell behind 2-1 to clean-up hitter Matt Adams, giving the Cardinals slugger a prime opportunity to deliver an early knock-out blow to the Dodgers' chances of surviving another day.

But Adams and Yadier Molina couldn't come through.

Greinke got Adams to chase a breaking ball in the dirt for the first out, then yielded a chopper to third from Molina, which Uribe turned into a nifty double play to end the threat:

Cards starter Joe Kelly looked good in the first, but surrendered four singles in the second to put his club in an early hole. Adrian Gonzalez and Yasiel Puig got the hit parade started for the Dodgers, eventually coming in to score on the one-baggers from Uribe and Greinke.
