The Dodgers and Cardinals exchanged two-run frames in succession, but a solo shot from Adrian Gonzalez broke the short-lived tie in the bottom of the third. Los Angeles leads 3-2 headed into the fifth.
Cardinals vs. Dodgers Game 5 NLCS score update: LA leads 3-2 thru 4
A solo blast from Adrian Gonzalez in the bottom of the third broke a 2-2 tie.
The Dodgers held a two-run lead last time we checked in, but the Cardinals bounced right back with two of their own in the top of the third. Carlos Beltran got things started for the Cards with an RBI triple off the centerfield wall, scoring Matt Carpenter from first:
Matt Holliday followed that with an RBI extra-base hit of his own -- a double off the left-center wall -- to knot the game at two. After surrendering a fourth consecutive hit, Zack Greinke eventually escaped the jam with the second double-play ball of his day.
Joe Kelly looked to settle down some in the third, but he couldn't get past Gonzalez with two outs. A-Gon deposited a pitch from Kelly into the right-field seats to give the Dodgers the 3-2 lead:
It was the Dodgers’ first home run of the NLCS, which A-Gon decided to celebrate with some literal Mickey Mouse stuff.
