The Dodgers are well on their way to forcing the series back to St. Louis. A solo home run in the fifth from leadoff man Carl Crawford -- his fourth of this postseason -- has put Los Angeles up 4-2 through six innings in Game 5.

St. Louis had opportunities to get to Zack Greinke early, but couldn’t knock him out. The right-hander has now retired nine straight as the game heads to the seventh.

Dodgers starter Zack Greinke has settled down considerably since his drama-filled first three innings. Greinke allowed two runs on six hits and one walk through the first three, but has set down the Cards in order in the three innings since.
In the other dugout, the book on Cardinals starter Joe Kelly has officially been closed. The right-hander lasted just five innings and is on the hook for the loss should the Dodgers hang on. Kelly allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out three, needing 82 pitches to get through his five frames.
Greinke is currently at 93 pitches, so it’s likely that Don Mattingly will turn things over to the bullpen in the eighth if the right-hander can’t make quick work of things in the seventh.
Hanley Ramirez, who was 0-for-3 with a strikeout on the day, was pulled from the game after the sixth -- likely due to his rib injury. Nick Punto has taken over for him at short.
