The Atlanta Braves have announced their 25-man roster for the National League Divisional Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, reports Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. There are a couple of notable players absent, including second baseman Dan Uggla and starting pitcher Paul Maholm.
NLDS 2013: Braves leave Dan Uggla off playoff roster
The Braves released their NLDS roster in anticipation of their series against the Dodgers.

Uggla is the highest-paid player on the Braves in 2013, making $13.2 million. The three-time All Star has not lived up to that price tag, however. Over 136 games, he has hit just .179 with a 671 OPS. Uggla did flash his trademark power over the course of the season with 22 long balls, but he has hit just one home run since July 25.
Since that date, his struggles have intensified. He has played in 41 games, but hit for a putrid .430 OPS while still striking out 48 times. Toward the end of the season, Uggla began losing more and more playing time to Elliot Johnson, who will presumably be the starter in the playoffs.
The Braves still owe Uggla $26.4 million over the next two seasons.
Maholm being left off the roster indicates that Freddy Garcia will take on the role of fourth starter in the playoffs should the Braves need one. Maholm has not been able to replicate his success from the last two seasons, posting a 4.41 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 26 starts.
Atlanta acquired Garcia in a mid-season trade. At the time of the deal, he had a 5.66 ERA in 11 appearances. The Braves originally put him as the long relief man in the bullpen, but he pitched three starts in September for Atlanta and overall posted a 1.65 ERA following the trade.
Here is the full Atlanta roster for the National League Divisional Series:
Right handed pitchers: Luis Ayala, David Carpenter, Freddy Garcia, David Hale, Craig Kimbrel, Kris Medlen, Julio Teheran, Jordan Walden
Left handed pitchers: Luis Avilan, Mike Minor, Alex Wood
Catchers: Evan Gattis, Gerald Laird, Brian McCann
Infielders: Freddie Freeman, Paul Janish, Chris Johnson, Elliot Johnson, Andrelton Simmons
Outfielders: Jose Constanza, Jason Heyward, Reed Johnson, Jordan Schafer, B.J. Upton, Justin Upton
The Dodgers are not required to release their roster for the series until Thursday morning.
