The Toronto Blue Jays are interested in trading for one of the Los Angeles Angels catchers, Chris Iannetta or Hank Conger, reports Bob Elliot of the Toronto Sun.

Toronto is looking for an upgrade behind the plate after J.P. Arenciba’s disastrous 2013 campaign.

Iannetta served as the Angels primary catcher, starting 102 games behind the plate. The right-handed hitter managed to contribute offensively despite a low batting average, hitting .225/.358/.372 over 399 plate appearances. Conger started the other 60 games at catcher for Los Angeles, batting .249/.310/.403.

Both players should fit within Toronto’s budget and allow the team to make other moves this off-season, such as looking for starting pitching help. Iannetta is due $10.5 million over the next two seasons, while Conger will not be arbitration eligible until after the 2014 season.
J.P. Arenciba struggled as the Blue Jays primary catcher this season, batting .194/.227/.365 over 497 plate appearances. Arenciba did hit 21 home runs, but struck out 148 times while only drawing 18 walks.
The Angels have been listed as one of the team's that may attempt to sign Brian McCann this offseason, making Iannetta or Conger expendable.
