World Series 2013: Umpire crew announced
The MLB has announced the six men who will ump the Cardinals and Red Sox World Series.
The six men will act as the officials for all seven games (as necessary) for the upcoming series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox.
Jim Joyce has been voted by players to be baseball's best umpire two years in a row in 2010 and 2011. However, he may be best known for a blown call that cost Armando Galarraga a perfect game on June 2, 2010. Joyce acted as first base umpire in that contest and admitted afterwards that he had made a mistake.
Emmel and Wegner are the only two men on the staff who have never been umpire in a World Series.
The World Series is set to kick off Wednesday with first pitched scheduled for 8:07 pm EST. The series will be broadcast nationally by FOX.
